Captain Wacey and the Midget Pirates

ComedySportz Utah
Part of a national chain of improv troupes. This group specializes in competitive short form shows. Recently, this troupe has been branching out into all long form shows called "Yellow #2" at their Provo location every Thursday.

Decaf Comedy Jam
Collaborative short form troupe performing at private events in the Utah-Idaho area. They also offer a unique “Teaching Show” where the audience takes on a much larger role in the show. Long form improv duo that performs across the country (and beyond).

Laughing Stock
Performing at the Off Broadway Theater, this troupe has Utah's longest running improv show, specializing in collaborative short form. Made up of primarily professional actors who perform at the Off Broadway Theater.

Mission Improvable
Mission Improvable is a hilarious short-form comedy improv troupe that performs every Friday night at 10:30 in Centerville.

Off the Cuff

Quick Wits
Quick Wits is the oldest name in Utah improv, performing competitive and collaborative short form. This troupe constantly strives to encourage the Utah improv community, collaborating with other troupes in shows and teaching free workshops.

An improv group performing every Monday at 8PM at Velour in Provo.

College of Eastern Utah improv troupe. Specializing in short form improv a la Who's Line is it Anyway?.

Improv Sports

Improv-uh-bles
Utah State University's resident improv troupe. They perform in the "Black Box" at the Chase Fine Arts Center of Utah State University in Logan on selected Saturday nights. High School

Improvisational Teen Theatre Training, Inc.
Social improv group that trains its members to present serious social dilemmas through improv that can be solved by audience members. Directed by Lori Hargraves, who can be contacted at

LaughterStruck
A Bonneville High School group that performs Friday nights at 8:45 for $5. Primarily based off of the hit TV show "Whose Line is it Anyway?" Performers include Dylan Allred, Brandon Garside, Cameron Kapetanov, Nathan Mikami, and special guest players every week. For more info call 452-7073

The OffBeets
Group based out of Jordan High School that trains students to do comedy improv shows for school events.

Visions Unlimited
Social improv group based out of Tooele High School.


Defunct Troupes

23-Skidoo
Short form group that performed every Saturday near BYU.

The Garrens
Utah County based sketch/improv troupe that started out as a BYU club. Some members can be found in ComedySportz Provo, ComedySportz Salt Lake, and 23-Skidoo.

Impish Grins
Impish Grins was a comedy improv troupe located in Bountiful, Utah. Their comedy shows were a mix of non-scripted sketch comedy with improv games (like "Whose Line is it Anyway?")

Not Quite Shakespeare
Salt Lake County based improv troupe.

Short form group performing at the Historic Murray Theatre.

Quick Wits: Clearfield
While the Quick Wits troupe is still alive and kicking, their Clearfield venue has closed.

Salt City Improv
Short form troupe that performed for charity. Their mission was to perform to either raise money or to show improv to people who might not be able to otherwise afford to see it.

Salt City Playback Theatre
One of the many Playback Theatre companies in over 20 countries (and the first in Utah).

The Skinny Lincolns
Salt Lake County based sketch/comedy troupe formed from Garrens Salt Lake City. Now known as ComedySportz Salt Lake.

TBA - In No Particular Order
Short form troupe who performed at the Mark Studio. A little more risque than your average Utah show - more PG-13 than G.

The Uncommoners
Draper based troupe. Formerly out of Jordan Commons.

Underground Improv
Provo based troupe.
